Scones: A Simple Recipe

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, baking has been something of a challenge for me, but recently I decided to take a whack at making scones, and I’ll have to say it was a success!

Scones are great because the possibilities are endless once you nail the original recipe, and with a huge thanks to the recipe I found here, I was able to get the original down pat!

The recipe I used called for 3 ingredients, self rising flour, milk, and butter, but I threw in 2 tablespoons honey to sweeten the dough just a little. After mixing all ingredients together I struggled to create the perfect triangular shape, but once baked they looked bomb! Before placing in the oven I sprinkled some sugar on top for another added bit of sweetness and let the babies cook until they were golden brown.

It was about 9:45 at night when I pulled them out of the oven, but that didn’t stop me from slathering some jam on top and eating one, they were a hit! Both my husband and roommate ate one straight from the oven as well, and even they ate the whole things and had good reviews!

I look forward to adding to the scones in the future, I’d love to add in chocolate chips, or maybe some sliced almonds and dried cherries! Does anyone have any suggestions to spruce up the scones? Let me know in the comments!
