Five Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies

To celebrate the fourth of July we started a new tradition of baking cookies for breakfast! This may seem odd, but given we have been in a heat wave for the past week, and have been binging a slew of baking shows, it seemed fitting to kick off a day of independence with some home made chocolate chip cookies! This five ingredient recipe was easy to make, quick to bake, and a fan favorite among the household!

Coming from a state where the state cookie is a nice and gooey toll house chocolate chip, these seemed like a no brainer to kick off the day!

This recipe is an easy one as it calls for all ingredients you probably already have in your home, and it keeps the baking temperature low, perfect for early morning summer baking!

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar (I used white granulated, could use brown sugar instead)

1 egg

1 stick of butter at room temperature

1 1/4 cups flour

1 cup chocolate chips (just a guideline, go nuts with it if that’s your thing)

Recipe:

Preheat oven to 350°F, grease a cookie sheet and set aside.

Place butter and sugar together in a mixing bowl, mix until fluffy. Once butter and sugar is creamed together, add in your egg and slowly mix in the flour until a dough forms. Mix in chocolate chips once dough is formed and place by heaping tablespoon onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for about 14 minutes, until edges are golden brown and tops are slightly cracked.

So when it finally cools down, embrace all things American and give these babies a try!
